STAR Flight Implements New Medical Equipment

STAR Flight crews have completed training with the GE Vscan ultrasound machine and have them available on every transport.  Extended FAST exams can now be completed with this technology that literally fits in the palm of the provider's hand.  Previously STAR Flight crews kept a much larger Sonosite machine on board the aircraft for the same purpose.

STAR Flight is saying goodbye to the IVAC triple channel infusion pumps that are no longer being supported by the manufacturer.  The portable size and convenience of the IVAC pump will be missed, however STAR Flight has found a suitable replacement; the Braun Infusemat Space infusion pumps.  Identical to their hospital counterparts, the Braun pumps have the latest technology and drug library.  The pumps are single channel, so three are necessary to replace the functionality of the IVAC.  Their larger footprint has been accomodated thanks to the spacious interior of STAR Flight's EC-145 aircraft.
