In 1998, STAR Flight acquired two Eurocopter EC 135s. These aircraft were equipped with high-skids, a center-beam electric cargo hook, an SX-16 NightSun searchlight, and FLIR. The ability to quickly reconfigure the aircraft for various missions, rear-loading capability, and two-patient loads all made the EC-135 an ideal aircraft for STAR Flight's multi-role mission. In 2007 these aircraft were replaced with EC-145.
